Spring Cocktail (& Mocktail) Recipes to Swoon Over + Female Distiller Event

Seattle Cocktail week has come to a close and while I wasn’t able to partake in one of my favorite past times, (trying out amazing craft cocktails) I was able to sip on a delicious “mocktail” and be inspired by these passionate female distillers!

I grabbed a proxy taste tester and headed downtown to hear from:

Head Distiller Caley Shoemaker, Hangar 1 Vodka

Founder & Head Distiller Bridget Firtle, Owney’s Rum

Master Blender, Alex Thomas of the Sexton Single Malt

SPRING COCKTAIL RECIPES:

“Hard to beat Daiquiri”

  •     2 oz Owney’s Rum

  •     0.75 oz fresh lime juice

  •     0.75 oz simple syrup

  •     Shake with ice and strain, serve up

“Mint-Ginger Caipiroska”

  • 3 slices fresh ginger

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons superfine sugar

  • 5 mint sprigs

  • 4 ounces Hangar 1 vodka

  • Add mint sprigs. Muddle until fragrant.

  • Add vodka and ice. Garnish with mint. Stir.

“The Middleton Mule”

  • 1.5 parts Sexton Single Malt

  • 25 part Lime Juice

  • 0.25 part Ginger Syrup

  • 3.25 parts Ginger beer

  • Wedge of lime

MOCKTAIL - “Sparkling Cucumber Limeaid” ( Makes 4-6 Servings)

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lime zest

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

  • 1 cup lime juice

  • 1 medium English cucumber, halved and thinly sliced

  • 2 cups sparkling water, chilled
